Environmental Council, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Goose Creek Association, etc....remember, this project involved three villages and 20 miles of Route 50 and there was also a direct threat of four-laning Route 50 and running bypasses around the villages. What is the first step: come up with a 50-100 year vision for the village, build from there. Do you need a lawyer: no, but it’s a big boost if one’s available for free. What about trucks: look into installing a weigh-in-motion weight station. What about speed bumps: don’t use them, everyone hates them, other techniques work much better. Did the Route 50 people ever feel like giving up: every day...but others always persevered.
As to the next step for the Flint Hill group, July and August are bad months for meetings, but the steering group is to meet and firm up a fall agenda. Traffic calming meetings in Woodville, Sperryville, etc., wil^ also take place in the fall, if those villages express an interest to RLEP.
