Finally, something kids and parents can agree on — pizza. Whether it is graded on nutrients or taste, pizza is at the head of the food class. Parents love the convenience of this one dish meal. Recently at two agriculture education field day events third graders showed their enthusiasm for pizza as they studied all the plant and animal foods that went into making it.

Pizza is one of the few foods that can supply at least a single serving from nearly every food group, depending on the toppings. Most pizza consist of crust, tomato sauce, cheese and meats, covering four of the food groups — „ bread, cereal rice and pasta group, vegetable group, milk, cheese and yogurt group, and meat, poultry, bean, and egg group. The group that is missing is the fruit group, but now pineapple and ham pizzas are becoming popular.
