The week around July 4 is always a bad time for accidents and even here there were a few.
On July 2, a 17-year-old female from Amissville driving a 1989 Ford pickup passed Daryl Bowman of Maurertown in a 1983 International truck on U.S. 522 in Flint Hill. She then got back in the right lane and slowed down. Mr. Bowman veered right to avoid her and then overcompensated to the left and his vehicle overturned. Although he was apparently not iiyured, the damage to his vehicle was estimated at $3,000 and to hers was estimated at $1,000. On July 1, an accident occurred at routes 211 and 626 in Washington, Va. when a 16year-old female from Waynesboro pulled out in front of Fernando Calderon, 49, from Falls Church and her car struck his in the side. The girl was driving a 1984 Toyota which sustained $500 in damage. Mr. Calderon was driving a 1991 Honda two-door and it sustained $1,000 in damage, according to TVooper M.C. Woodard.
