the condition of properties in town and the other a survey of - income for all lots and perimeter lots. Mayor Stew Willis aftd Mr. Tompkins will draft a letter to the health department. It was also mentioned that perhaps the whole watershed should be surveyed in cooperation with the county. The council approved a motion to contact the county.
Council member Ray Gooch reported that the Future Committee will host a special meeting on Friday, July 25,-at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall at which Milton Herd, a professional planner, will meet with residents to discuss the town’s future planning. “It’s a general visioning meeting about the town,” he said. Mr. Herd will set the agenda and will have limited materials supplied.
A motion to pay the consultant to come and hold a meeting for informational purposes was approved.
Mr. Tompkins also reported that the Fourth of July festival was very successful this year. “I think we may be bringing in enough to justify the effort,” he said. He thanked all who gave of their time and helped out and the council for supporting the event and the decision to bring it the Royal Alexandria Fyfe, Drum and Trumpet Corp. All felt their performance was superb.
In old business the council discussed the modifications to be made to the water treatment plant. Two designs have been proposed. One would be without improvements to the well head and the other with improvements to the well head.
