In conjunction with the Lord Fairfax community College’s “Building Community” major gifts campaign, Mrs. Linda R. Dietel made a generous contribution to the College in honor of her husband. In appreciation the College’s Educational Foundation honored Mr. and Mrs. Dietel for their commitment to post-secondary education at the community college.
The William Moore Dietel bookstore was officially dedicated Thursday, June 12, at the College campus in Middletown. The bronze plaque placed outside the bookstore entrance reads “This bookstore is named in honor of William Moore Dietel for whom happiness is books and bookstores.”
“I never met a bookstore I didn’t like,” stated Mr. Dietel at the ceremony, “I have always had a dream of owning a bookstore, now I have one to enjoy without any of the responsibilities!”
Mr. Dietel credited his love for reading to his mother, Zilah, who read Edgar Allan Poe, Greek mythology, and books illustrated by N.C. Wyatt to her children. He expressed his desire to share the love of books with others, “it’s very inspiring to see stu
