driving on U.S. 522 at about 3:30 a.m. in his ‘97 Honda fourdoor when he rounded a curve and crossed into the other lane.
Rodney Hoffman, 39, of Culpeper, in his ‘94 Dodge pickup swerved to avoid Mr. Slankard who tried to correct his direction and the cars met head on. Mr. Slankard’s Honda was spun around. His car’s damage was estimated at $14,000. Mr. Hoffman’s pickup had an estimated $6,000 of damage.
Mr. Slankard was injured and taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital. He was also charged with reckless driving and Virginia State Trooper J.N. Queen reported that alcohol was a factor in the accident. Mr. Hoffman was not injured.
