on all my outdoor activities such as watering the vegetable patch, weeding the wild flower garden and even putting out bird seed. This is wishful thinking on my part; 1 want to be as important to the catbirds as they are to me.
The nest is in the privet hedge that separates this lawn from U.S. 522. Lee Trott has seen a catbird pick up nest material and disappear into this hedge. A small piece of paper that had blown onto the grass was considered acceptable; it was picked up and no doubt woven into the nest. I have often found bits of paper tucked into catbird nests.
We have discussed finding the exact spot where the nest is located but have not done so. That is what I mean by behaving myself. Poking around in the privet hedge would be considered an invasion of privacy, a breaking of the rules of proper behavior. We would be roundly scolded in a series of cat-like meows.
