Thoughts on
the future
Mr. Longyear’s letter to
the editor prompted me to articulate several thoughts.
Regarding a “sewage treatment plant. . . that would cause it (the town) to explode . . . enable The Inn to expand and swallow, the town,” I have two thoughts.
1) It is my understanding that The Inn has already installed a gigantic drainfield system and will not need additional septage facilities in the foreseeable future. Also, all of that property will of necessity remain Unimproved an in “green” space! This is good! * . ..
2) The town’s recent engineering study reported that the life of most drainfields is ten to thirty years; that many lots in the town have had repairs or replacements in the past 15 years and may be getting to the point of needing new systems and that many of the lots in the most densely developed portions of town are relatively small and could not accommodate another drainfield or do not have adequate space for system repairs of additions.
