When all else fails, blame it on The Inn.
The Inn was the only suspected culprit named by Walter Longyear in his “Letter to the Editor” last week as he vainly looked for hidden agendas, selfish motives and political skullduggery among the hapless volunteers on the Washington Town Council, who, when challenged to do so two years ago, took on the task of thinking about planning for the future of the town.
Of all the businesses and residents in Washington, The Inn and its owners have more invested in the future preservation of the town and most to lose and least to gain if Mr. Longyear’s dire predictions of population explosions and massive new development in Washington were to come true.
Why would the owners of The Inn want to “swallow the town” when its success is at least in part attributable to its setting in a picturesque and historic rural village?
