At Chimay, the mayor of the town will receive them at the town hall and present them the keys to the city.
While touring France, Henry intends to continue research on her latest project, a biography of a French Zouave from WWI, Achille Lecreux. Writing of a “simple, ordinary man” who, like thousands of others who fought and suffered, Henry plans to interview people in France who actually knew him.
She and the Zouaves have scheduled a stop at a museum in Hirson where some of his personal artifacts are on display.
In the midst of all this excitement, Henry is busy readying her French 1, 3, and 4 classes for the upcoming AP and National French exams. She is also preparing to teach a summer class at George Mason on French author Marcel Proust.
“Proustian Society” combines French literature with history, providing Henry with the latitude to incorporate major events like the “Dreyfus affair” and World War II in her course material.
