heard one at mid-morning when we walked to the post office two days past. We heard the singer long before we found him perched on a sprig of multiflora rose that arched above a tangle of Japanese honeysuckle, Forsythia and that ubiquitous and troublesome member of the rose family. The bird had seemed far away so soft was his song. He was just across U.S. 522 and quite close. The dense tangle which must be very much to a Mockingbird’s liking for his nest.
