Rappahannock High School’s Public Speaking team hosted and won the Bull Run District meet last week in a sweep over Brentsville, 57-32.
In the best ever showing for a Rappahannock forensics team eighteen of the 29 trophies awarded went to Rappahannock students. There were 10 categories with three awards — first, second and third — in each. RCHS forensics coach is Jon Heddleston said he was extremely proud of all the team members.
First place honors were taken by: Michael Lets'en, for original oratory and extemporaneous (domestic); Michael Baader, extemporaneous (foreign); Chad Heddleston, storytelling; Emily Sims, prose interpretation; Andrew Inglis, poetry interpretation; Andrew Van Horn, serious dramatic interpretation; and the team of Courtney Mauro and Andrew Van Horn in duo interpretation. Brentsville only took first in two categories, humorous dramatic interpretation and spelling.
