The Rappahannock County
Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring the DARE Parent Program again this year. There will be six two-hour sessions that deal with the following topics: Communication, substance abuse, prevention and intervention, youth pressure, media influences, violence, and gang activity. The final session will have a panel of community leaders who will answer questions from the participants.
The DARE Parent Program was created to stimulate interest in the community and motivate families to take an active role in prevention of substance abuse and violence. As your sheriff, I, along with the members of my office, are proud to take a leading role in providing this beneficial program to the citizens of our county.
The sessions will be held on Thursday evenings, 6:30 to 8:30 at the Rappahannock County Elementary School. The dates are as follows: March 5, March 12, March 19, March 26, April 2, and April 9. These classes will be conducted by Captain Jeff Brown, our DARE officer, who is a qualified instructor of our youth and adult programs.
