Healing Arts activities
Rappahannock Healing Arts will sponsor the following activities: Thursday, Feb. 26 yoga at 9:30 a.m. and Feb. 28: Alexander/Massage.
A ten week Herbal Medicine Series will be held March 17 through May 26. Herbalist Kathleen Maier will teach the series based on British Master Herbalist David Hoffman’s therapeutic herbalism course. You will learn how to make simple preparations and tea blends for all the systems. Each class will cover anatomy and physiology, materia medica and healthy alternatives for family health care. Due to the nature of the course, it is strongly recommended that the series be attended as a whole. Course fee is $200. Space is limited, so reserve your place by sending a non-refundable check for $50 payable to Kathleen Maier. Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9.
Practical nursing aptitude testing
George Washington Carver-Piedmont Technical Education Center will be testing beginning March 3 for admission to the 18 Month Practical Nursing Program that begins in August, 1998. There is a $1,000 tuition for each of the two phases of the program. If accepted into the program, the first payment will be due Aug. 1. 1998. After completing the program, the graduate is eligible to take the National licensing Exam for becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. Call 825-0476 to schedule for testing or for information. The testing fee is $15.
St. Patrick s Day celebration set
St. Patrick's Day celebration will be held Oasis Winery on Saturday, March 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy authentic live Irish music on stage at the Oasis Winery in honor of the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day while tasting and sampling wines and complimentary hor d’oeuvres. Workshop plan ned
An Arts and Crafls Workshop for children is being offered by .Janet Kerig at Oldway Crafts Village, Sperryville, Saturdays, Feb. 28 and March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The three week workshop is a multi-media experience including basketry, papermaking, tie-dye. medicine wheels, art from nature, beadwork, candlemaking, painting, drawing, storytelling and percussion and dance jams. Emphasis is on creativity. Children bring lunch and drinks. Pre-registration is required. To register call 987-8670.
