I searched in vain for a hepatica, the first wildflower to bloom, often in February I found the three-lobed, livershaped leaves — left over from last summer — but no blooms. Bloodroot with its bold white poppy-like flower also pushes up through the dead lives very early. There is no sign of that yet.
