BY JAN MAKE LA I Volunteer Coordinator Public School System ! • What beautiful weather! The show absolutely glistens! And if we can trust Puxatauney Phil, we will get to enjoy six more weeks of this!
• The next RCES PTO Pot Luck Dinner meeting will be held on Friday, Feb. 11. Dinner will be from 6-7 p.m. The meeting will begin at 7. Bring a dish to share and join the fun! Child care during the meeting will be provided.
• Several fifth and sixth grade RCES students recently took part in the John’s Hopkins University Talent Search on Saturday, Jan. 29 at St. John’s School in Warrenton. All students reported being thrilled when the test ended! Those who participated were James Henze, Andrew Kohler, Josh Makela, Frances Monroe, and Jesse Palmer. We are proud of these students for taking the challenge.
• If any RCES students are interested in playing spring soccer with the Rappahannock Soccer League registration forms may be picked up in the RCES office. The deadline is quickly approaching!
• Due to the days missed because of snow, many activities have had to be rescheduled. If you are not sure whether or not an activity might have been adversely affected by the school closings, please call the school to check.
• Please post the Public Schools’ Hotline number, 987-9316, near your phone for easy access. This number will give you information on school closings, sporting events, etc. It is provided for your convenience. It should make all of our lives a little less confusing.
• Local Musician/Songwriter Paul Reisler recently worked with ROMS Band Students on songwriting skills, and helped the students to write a song of their own. Two class
