Donn S. Smith, president of Northern Virginia-based Soil Consultants, Inc., a growing multifaceted firm which serves the testing, inspections and engineering needs of private citizens, business and government is pleased to announce the hiring of Charles A. Jackson Jr., to the new position of Regulatory Relations Manager and Senior Soil Scientist.

Mr. Jackson, a Shenandoah county resident, was formerly employed as a senior environmental health specialist for the Virginia Department of Health in Fauquier County and also served in a relief capacity in Rappahannock County. He will be responsible for leading the rural soils division of Soil Consultants.

In his new capacity, Mr. Jackson and his team will perform soil studies for residential and commercial on-site sewage disposal systems, develop and implement plans for alternative sewage disposal systems, install and evaluate sewage disposal systems and help Mr. Smith develop other innovative programs to meet the needs of the companies’ many clients.

“Major changes in on-site sewage disposal regulations at the state level have created an opportunity for clients to build on land which here to for was considered unbuildable,” Smith said.
