then presented an inspirational video that included scenes from other relays around the country. He con* eluded his presentation by briefly reviewing procedures that the relay team captains should follow.
Team captains organize the teams, recruit members, solicit sponsors, and arrange for fund-raisers. The teams compete with one another to see who can raise the most funds and their good natured rivalry is part of the fun of the relay itself.
Forty-seven teams participated last year and both Mr. Atkins and Mrs. Settle art eager to see even more teams this year.
The Relay for Life is the county’s Cancer Society’s fund raising event for the year. It will be held at the Rappahannock Elementary School May 19 and 20. Between now and then there will be regular meetings both for the various committees involved and for the team captains.
The next chairpersons’ meeting has been rescheduled from Feb. 17 to Feb. 14 and the next team captains’ meeting is scheduled for Feb. 22. Both will be held in the Flint Hill Fire Hall.
Persons interested in participating or helping in the relay are invited to attend either meeting.
