The thirdi concert In the 1999-2000 “Smithsonian at Little Washington* season will take place on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m. when The Theatre at Washington, and the | Smithsonian Chamber Players present another program in the “Brilliance of the Baroque” series. * ' ' ; '■ ' ' . * * The program sees the return of JameS Weaver, harpsichordist and founder of the Smithsonian Chamber Players, and cellist Kenneth Slowik. They will play highlights of their 1999-2000 concerts at the Smithsonian of the complete English Suites for Harpsichord and Unaccompanied Cello by J.S. Bach.
Reviewing the first of these concerts, held at the Smithsonian last fall, The Washington Post referred to Weaver’s “trenchant reading” of the | Suite in E Minor; “with its Italianate elements in the Prelude and mathematical flourishes,” and Slowik’s display of “consummate familiarity* with the works.
