additional Sheriff’s Deputy to be hired to allow for a schools resource officer, and that the new deputy will need a vehicle. The best price for the two new patrol cars was $46,057 quoted by Winchester Ford.
Supervisor Bryant Lee moved to appropriate the funds in the 2000-2001 fiscal year, and the motion was carried unanimously. Delivery of the vehicles will be taken after July 1, 2000.
Administrator McCarthy reported that the county “spent more money on existing truck (animal warden vehicle) maintenance in the last three years than it had in purchasing it.” He noted that $8700 had been spent on repairs while the purchase price of the vehicle was $8100.
The board discussed options for a new animal warden’s vehicle, and unanimously authorized the expenditure of no more than $20,742 for an extended cab, four-wheel drive pickup truck, to be ordered by March 1, 2000.
The existing truck will be used as a back-up vehicle for county agencies.
