Hometown: Amissville Occupation: Registered Nurse, School nurse for the Rappahannock County Public Schools.

Accomplishments: The Torrance family moved to Rappahannock County from Fauquier County in 1990. They are originally from Fairfax County and find that Rappahannock County is a wonderful place to live and to raise a family.

Mrs. Torrance and her husband have six children, two children graduated this year with the class of 2000. Steven will be attending NVCC, Manassas Campus next year and Shawn will be attending The University of Charleston, W.Va.

Melanie, Dustin, Jordan and Davey, all attend Rappahannock County Public Schools.

Family Practice Nursing, Mrs. Torrance was excited about working for the schools, when the job became available three years ago. She is able to be with her children and work at her profession as well. She feels so fortunate to be able to do this. "The students at the elementary school are wonderful," said Mrs. Torrance and "keep me very busy." She is enjoying getting to know them and their families. Mrs. Torrance is a member of the Amissville Baptist Church and teaches the kindergarten/first grade, "Learners" Sunday School class. She is the director of the Children's Church program and teaches the sixth grade class at Vacation Bible School every year.

Her love is soccer. While Meli loves softball and cheer leading, all of the Torrance boys play soccer. The family has been involved with the Rappahannock Soccer League for many years where Mrs. Torrance volunteered as a coach and helped with fund raising. Mrs. Torrance also volunteers for school activities when possible. Last year Mrs. Torrance had a great time helping with the Renaissance Dinner and the Senior reception at . Homecoming.

Mrs. Torrance concluded with "Rappahannock County is a wonderful place to live. We have enjoyed living here the past ten years. Being involved in the schools and the community has made us feel right at home." With four years experience In
