Funeral services were conducted on Monday, July 31 at Amissville United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Adams, Rev. Vernon R. DeLong and Rev. Dr. Randolph J. Daniels officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Holmes was born Aug. 9, 1931 in Virginia. She was a member of Amissville United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Women and the Amissville Homemakers Association.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles Edward Holmes and her father Mason L. Hitt, Sr.

She is survived by her mother, Omega Hitt of Amissville; two daughters, Ann H. Simmons of Amissville and Connie Peterson of
