noir. They aren't overly sweet, but they are definitely succulent.
While hiking about, I was terribly excited to find a huge trailing bush, right next to a whole stretch of blackberry bushes. Here I was thinking that this is a true local delicacy- something to rival the morel for local gathered bounty. I had never heard of them before, so I was certain they were a local variation. After all, there are literally hundreds of sub-branches of the genus Rubus, which includes all the blackberries, raspberries, lingonberries, dewberries and such.
This plant, these berries, I was thinking, are the very same ones that locals have been picking for generations.
