Visit Explorers Hall at the National Geographic Societj headquarters in Washington, D. C. and see a little piece ol Rappahannock, or at leasl how some Rappahannock kids see the world. Thirteen Hearthstone upper school students spent last year creating a mural that is now on display there, and that has been viewed by many of the 40,000 who have visited Explorers Hall since tht mural was installed.
The eight by sixteen fool mural is the second in £ series.
The first was created £ decade ago by then Fauquiei schools artist-in-residenct Laurie Marshall and that county's junior high schoo students.
This year 2000 revisita tion of the world mural was again accepted for display ai Explorers Hall and tht Hearthstone government ant geography students, in collab oration with Laurie Marshall created a world map overlaic with images that reflect tht student's global perception.
The mural is entitlec "This is Our World! - 2000" and those interacting with ii engage in a scavenger hunt tt locate selected Earth events on the world map.
