obviously educated is working as a maid) where she soon loves the father, but has an affair with the son as well. There are harsh feeling between the father and son because of the mother's death (and her final days spent in an institution because she was dangerously crazy).
Ultimately, however, although Emma leaves the household, she also serves as the catalyst which brings the father and son back together. There's a quirky ending involving a photograph which still leave you guessing at the outcome. Herb really enjoyed the film, but Naomi thought it was a little too implausible.
• Felicia's Journey: Although rated PG-13, this should be rated R because of its theme and substance. 116 minutes, 1999 starring Bob Hoskins and Elaine Cassidy. Hoskins is an extremely eccentric "bachelor," who lives in his dead mother's huge old country mansion and prepares elaborate meals watching old TV cooking shows which feature his mother.
Basically all his mental problems stem from relationship with his mother (surprise!). He works in some strange food factory, and spends his spare time seemingly "rescuing" unfortunate girls. Actually he is luring them into his lair, where he ultimately kills them. He keeps video tapes of all his dead girls. He meets Felicity, who is pregnant by a man who leaves her, and plans the same fate for her. Hoskins arranges for her abortion, then tries to drug her so that he can kill her, but she escapes and he hangs himself, end of story, and a good thing said Naomi. We didn’t give this any thumbs at all.
