Laymon Horton

Washington resident

Laymon Hilton Horton, 82 of Washington died July 27 at Warrenton Overlook Health and Rehab Center.

He was born June 24, 1918 in Rappahannock County, a son of the late Lloyd Horton and Deliha Clatterbuck Horton.

Mr. Horton was retired from Arlington County School Board.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ora Belle Horton and a sister, Verlie Fincham.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Hilton Horton and his wife Nancy of Washington; one grandson, Michael Hilton Horton of Washington and a sister, Elsie H. Bailey of Rixeyville.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, July 30 at Clore-English Funeral Home by the Rev. Warren "Chip" Roy and Rev. Paul Markee.

Burial was in Washington Masonic Cemetery.

Linda Owings

Linda Elaine Owings, 53, of Banco died Tuesday, July 25 at Countryside Rest Home in Pratts.

She was bom Oct. 12, 1946 in Norfolk and was the daughter of Isaac Newton Ford Jr. of Vero Beach, Fla. and the late Mary Ellen Fitzgerald. She was a beloved wife, mother, friend, teacher, librarian and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at Haywood.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, W. Rapley Owings of Banco; two sons, Matthew Staige Owings and wife Amy of Charlotte, N.C. and Michael Fitzgerald Owings and wife, Rebecca of Madison; a stepson, Jock R. Owings of Chatham; a step-daughter, Lark D. Muncy of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Patricia Cherry of Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Katherine E. Owings
