The dog days of summer should be here this week. August is supposed to be the hottest month of the year, but the way this summer has been we will just have to wait and see. Let's see what is going on this month.
First up, The Amissville United Methodist Church's VBS is in full swing. The kids are having a great time with the classes and making crafts. If you want to put a little "SON" in your child's summer bring them to Amissville.
The AACA will be meeting on Aug. 10 at the Methodist Church. On the agenda is the new Post Office. Representatives from the USPS will be on hand to field questions and give an update on the new facility.
The voting on the "Welcome To Amissville" signs will be discussed as well. The ballots are coming in and will be tallied up the first part of September.
If you haven't voted, please do so either at Mayhugh's or Hackley's. All Jackson district residents and Amissville residents with the 20106 zip code are eligible to vote. Please put your address on the ballot, otherwise your vote won't count. If you have any questions please call 937-3401.
The AACA monthly meeting is at 7 p.m., everyone is invited to attend and don't forget the First Annual Fall Festival is Oct. 14, 2000. Deadline for ads for your business is Aug. 15, contact Amy Hitt at 937-3401 or Victoria Miller at 937-4298.
On Aug. 12 the Hackley’s Pickin’ Party will be held. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, or the camping chairs that seem to be all the rage this summer, and your instruments so you can join in the fun.
