Service & repair VDOT equipment, pool cars & other state vehicles. Will diagnosis complex mechanical malfunctions & uses computerized diagnostic & testing equipment to troubleshoot engine & related mechanical malfuntions or electrical systems. Specializes in repairing & overhauling complex mechanical malfunctions & related systems operations & uses a wide variety of electronic, power & hand tools. Conducts official State vehicle inspections & prepares paperwork, maintains records & performs computer data entry. Provides guidance to other repair technicians & equipment operators in the operation & maintenance of equipment. Must have considerable working knowledge in the repair of automotive, construction, maintenance equipment & standard shop practices & techniques & skill using hand & power tools & diagnostic equipment. Demonstrated ability to diagnose equipment failures & performs repairs, operate various highway equipment, perform manual labor & lead & direct work of others. Must be able to maintain records & operate computers. Requires safety shoes, physical examination & Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must obtain a Virginia State Inspection License within 6 months of employment. Selected candidate subject to pre-employment drug test. Salary: $23,675 - $36,962
