Dana Booster meeting set

The Rappahannock County Band Boosters will meet Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Rappahannock County Elementary School. Everyone is invited. For information call Ginger Estes at 675-3464 or John Wiese at 937-9909.

Soccer registration set

The Rappahannock Soccer League will have open registration at the Rappahannock Library on Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children should bring birth certificates. The cost is $35 for first player and $30 for each additional player. There will be a U18 team.

Flickinger to conduct workshop

A Sculpture Workshop, Figure in Clay will be held Aug. 11,12 and 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. which includes a one hour break at the Oldway Art Center, just west of Sperryville.

The $225 charge includes model and materials and will be taught by Charles Flickinger. He is currently teaching sculpture at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and Humblestone Inn for the Arts in Warrenton. For additional information call 987-9500.

Health Screening programs set

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center:

Aug. 21 at 1 p.m., program on fire extinguisher use by Doug Faber.

Aug. 28 at 1 p.m., program on Nutrition for the Elderly by Christine Kastan of the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Aug. 30 at 11:30 a.m., blood pressure check by Melinda Beach.

Regional workshop scheduled

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board is conducting a regional workshop on its Performance Contract and Area Plan. The workshop will be held on Aug. 10 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Culpeper Board of Supervisors' meeting room, 302 North Main Street. The public is invited to attend.

Performance dates announced

Windmore Foundation for the Arts and Culpeper County Parks and Recreation Department present the Children's Summer Theater Workshop production of Into the Woods Jr. by Stephen Sandheim and James Lapine. Performances will be - held Saturday, Aug. 5 and Sunday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. at Culpeper County Middle School. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the following locations: Old Dominion One-Hour Photo, The Cameleer, Another Dimension and The Comer Shelf.

Roberts, Beckwith family reunion set

The Roberts and Beckwith families will host their second family reunion on Saturday, Aug. 5 beginning at noon at the Rappahannock Park on US 211 near Washington.

RCSB cancels meeting

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Sen/ices Board has canceled its Aug. 8 meeting. The next regular monthly meeting of the board will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Bradford Road Office in Culpeper.

Pickin' party planned

A pickin' party will be held at Hackley's Country Store on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring your instruments, voices and lawn chairs and plan to have a good time! For more information call 937-5373. Rappahannock County 4-H members will be selling tickets for a 50/50 raffle to raise money for the 4-H General Fund to use for 4-H programs.

Bob Dennis will be at the Rappahannock Piedmont Environmental Office every Friday from 9:30 to 12.
