New easements
protect county
Two conservation easements recently recorded give additional protection to two of the county's top scenic and recreational attractions. Alan and Susan Dranitzke donated an easement covering 20 acres adjacent to Shenandoah National Park in Gid Brown Hollow; it specifically erases all remaining family subdivision rights inherent in the property and prohibits removal of 3,800 feet of historically significant stone fence.
Upstream from Amissviile, Roger and Jane Batchelder granted to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation an easement protecting 118 acres, including almost 3,000 feet of frontage on the Rappahannock State Scenic River. Easements now protect more than 10.750 acres in the county.
