Just as county residents were beginning to dry out from the torrential downpours that „ flooded the western end of the county on Oct. 13, yet another rainstorm drenched the same area Monday evening and early Tuesday morning. Sperryville weather-watcher Dennis Wingfield reported his backyard rain gauge recorded a total of 3.44 inches in the latest storm, including .78 inches before midnight Monday and another 2.66 inches during the early morning hours Tuesday. Residents awoke to find streams and creeks running high against their banks, and several roads back into the mountain hollows around Sperryville were under water for most of the morning Tuesday. •' Rappahannock County High School Senior Douglas Kilpatrick has been named a Semifinalist in the 1991 National Merit Scholarship Program. The 17-year-old youth was notified that his 1 high math and verbal scores on his Preliminary Standardized Achievement Tests qualified him as a semi-finalist. RCHS Senior Jan Herman is the school's Homecoming Queen. She was crowned at halftime during the Rappahannock-Wakefield soccer game last Saturday. —COMPILED BY BARBARA C. WAYLAND
