Elaine Smith ran a superb 27:35 for the team and finished fifth overall. She was followed by Lady Panthers Holly Long (28:28), Kori Alexander (30:42), Karie Von Fange (31:24), and Katie Giles (37:51).
The next big event for the squad is the District Tournament to be held at Madison County High School on Wednesday, Oct. 25. The Varsity girls will start their race at 3:45 p.m. and the Varsity boys will commence at 4:30. The Region B Cross Country Tournament will follow and take place on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The open gym for basketball continues every Saturday between now and January. Girls in the sixth to 12 grades have between 9 and 11 a.m. on Saturdays to come and "shootaround" or play pickup games. Boys have the same opportunity between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Attendance is improving, but we still need more players and parents to keep this activ
