Mrs. Cooper also distributed pamphlets and literature from the county extension agent on choosing and planting trees and shrubs as well as a booklet describing a tree identification walk through the streets of Warrenton.
Club president Lucia Kilby informed members of books on flower arranging available through the National Federation of Garden Clubs. She also asked club members to help with the club's December fund raising project, a Christmas greens sale. The public is invited to preorder greens in November, and the club will make the wreaths, garlands, and sways, by hand, out of fresh-cut materials. Distribution dates are December 6-8.
This month's hostesses, Flo Phillips, Carolyn Thornton, and Pat Whorton, presented the club with a light lunch and used fall leaves as table decorations. Club members Celine Siira and Janet Eastham were awarded blue ribbons in design for their arrangements. Ruth Baumgardner, Betty Wood, Mary Revercomb, Janet Eastham, and Susan Jones received blue ribbons for their horticulture exhibits of either mums or asters.
