Wilson is somewhat unusual because he works in several different media. He paints in watercolor, oil, egg tempera, and casein. Each medium offers him different opportunities for technique and expression.
For egg tempera and casein, he makes his own paint and prepares his own panels. Egg tempera and casein tend to be more linear and detail oriented, he states. Egg tempera requires a substantial time investment because of the panel preparation and the way paint is applied to the panel. Watercolors give me a chance to be much looser with my technique."
Wilson is represented by Bryant Galleries in New Orleans, La. and Jackson, Mich, and Somerville/Manning Gallery in Wilmington, Del. He is a artist member of Allied Artists of America, and the Society of Tempera Painters and the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
He has won numerous awards in such shows as the American Artists Professional League, The Baltimore Watercolor Society, The Allied Artists of America, The Salmagundi Club, Audubon Artists, The National Arts Cluh, and the Parkersburg Art Center.
In January 2001, one of Wilson's still lifes will be included in an invitational exhibition at the Butler Museum of America Art, in Youngstown, Ohio.
