16 artists selected to participate in an extraordinary painting opportunity. Last summer, Watercolor Magazine and Forbes, Inc. invited water-media artists from across the United States to spend an allexpense paid week exploring the vast 250 square mile Forbes Trinchera Ranch in southern Colorado and create artwork which reflected that experience. Patton Wilson was one of those artists.
The Trinchera Ranch Project was the third in a series of collaborations between Forbes and M. Stephen Doherty, editor-in-chief of Watercolor Magazine and American Artist. The artists were selected from more than 150 portfolios submitted in a competition organized by Watercolor Magazine.
The Trinchera Ranch is surrounded by the spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the San Luis Valley. Purchased by Malcolm Forbes in 1968,
