• The first Principals Advisory Council (PAC ) meeting at RCHS was a huge success! Thirteen parents attended the meeting where Mr. Jack Raines, RCHS Principal, discussed the shortened travel periods between classes, the single lunch period for all students and the new publishing plan for the yearbook. Parents had an opportunity to ask questions and discuss a variety of topics before the close of the meeting.

The idea of an Alumni Association was discussed. Parents were invited to join and spread the word about the new Rappahannock County School Sports Association. This organization, spear-headed by Athletic Director Mr. Jon Smythe, will be addressing a variety of school spirit issues.

Career Day, Service Clubs for RCHS students and college counseling through the Guidance Department were discussed as well. The informal setting of the RCHS library helped everyone to feel more comfortable. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. and all subsequent meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month, unless schools happen to be closed due to inclement weather or holidays.

Please watch the paper for more details, and plan to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to be a part of your child's education! If you have questions about the new PAC, or would like to have a specific topic discussed at a meeting, please call Mr. Raines at 987-8575, or Jan Makela, Volunteer Coordinator at 987-8259.

• Many thanks to the staff and Board of the Rappahannock County Public
