The Industrial Engineering Technician’s primary responsibility involves conduction time and motion studies within our fabricating and assembly departments as we look for more efficient ways to manufacture our products. Labor charges will be reviewed, past and present, to assist in identifying inefficiencies that cause inaccuracy in capacity planning. This position plans and conducts the studies, complies and arranges data into reports and spreadsheets, providing reports to the plant management for review and action. Person will be expected to’ help identify inefficiencies and assist with implementing improvements. Other tasks include preparing specialized reports such as cost analyses, floor stocking, routings and other data entry assignments, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS: Specific related experience in a parts fabrication/manufacturing environment is required and course work in material management time/motion studies and/or capacity planning highly desirable. Qualified applicants will be able to prepare chars, graphs & diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling and machine utilization using computer software; will have observation and analytical skills and knowledge of assembly and/of manufacturing processes needed to observe machinists, metal fabricators, machine assembly technicians and other position within manufacturing in their performance of job tasks to determine time involved and nonvalue added functions to create a leaner environment and to recommend revision of methods of operation or material handling bills of material changes for routing improvements and to recognize work order inefficiencies causing capacity problems. Hands on experience in parts fabrication very helpful. This is a FT hourly position reporting to our assistant plant manager. Usual schedule is 8-hour, 5-day week, although person must be able to work overtime or flex schedule on occasion
