Thirty years ago, the Potomac Edison Power Company planned to build a 138,000-volt power transmission line through the heart of Rappahannock County.
It was to cut a north-south swath from the Chester Gap area, run 23 miles smack down the middle of the county, and exit into Culpeper County near Boston.
