STARTING SALARY: $9.52 PER HOUR
The Department of Housing and Community Development is seeking an individual with clerical/bookkeeping skills to provide a wide variety of administrative, clerical and financial management support to the Northern Virginia Region of the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Independently provide financial and administrative support services for a regional office. Maintain complex records related to building safety, and is responsible for procurement of supplies, payment of regional office expenses, maintenance of personnel records, and preparation of legal correspondence to building owners related to issues of fire and life safety. Maintain schedules of a dispersed work group and properly notify appropriate technical staff persons of client requests and/or complaints. Responsible for providing clerical support to regional employees by preparing correspondence and other clerical tasks, as well as administrative support, such as making travel arrangements for staff and similar administrative duties. Flexible part-time hours.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (including MS Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint). Proven ability to perform basic accounting/bookkeeping and budgeting principles as well as financial management systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to meet, greet and work with the public and in a team setting.
