Imagine for a moment that

you’re getting ready for the big Friday night football game, you’re covered in blue and gold from head to toe. You even went so far as to paint your face. And why shouldn’t you, hfter all it is Rappahannock’s flebut football game. Tonight is the night they take on Luray and you and all your friends intend to be there to scream )them on to victory. [ Would you be as excited for the football players though if your own team at RCHS lacked proper facilities? What if you |were a soft-ball player who had to play on the baseball field? Or maybe vou were a volleyball player who had to use an outdoor sand pit? Worst of all, what if you were on the basketball team and had to practice on a goal hung haphazardly on )the wall outside the commons? | You’re probably thinking that this is all very absurd. It’s not though. This is the reality for the RCHS track team which is left season after season with second-rate equipment. Funds have been found for a weight room and even a wrestling room for our newest team. Now plans are in the works for a football team, which will require in excess of $75,000.

Our track team however, which has been a fixture at RCHS since at least 1980, has no track.

“That was the track when I was in school and if it was good enough for me than its good enough for them!” Right? Wrong. Lets follow this train of thought for a moment and see where we would be if our
