James Jenkins Sr.
Born in Woodville
James “Lud” Jenkins Sr., 78, died on Friday, March 3 at Commonwealth Nursing Home in Fairfax.
He was bom March 10, 1923 in Woodville, a son of the late Jesse James Jenkins Sr. and Daisy Margaret Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of Jenkins Tree Service for over 50 years.
He loved to coon hunt and attend horse races.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Martha Lee Jenkins of Centreville; two daughters, Esther Marie Frazier and her husband, William Jenkins and Nancy Lee Jenkins and her husband, Charles Jenkins, all of Clifton; a daughter-in-law, Mae Virginia Jenkins of Front Royal; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include a sister, Annie M. Haynes of Orange; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Robert Jenkins and Jesse James Jenkins Jr. and three sisters, Margaret Nichols, Lizzie Jenkins and Flossie Bowie-Jenkins.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, March 12 at Nethers Mill Lighthouse Tabernacle by the Rev. Charles Clinedinst. Burial followed at Sperryville Cemetery.
