It was cold, it was hot, it was rainy — it was spring sports time in Virginia. All teams had a taste or neartaste of action last week as scrimmages began in spite of the weather. The girls’ soccer team was at home with the boys on the road. * Baseball went to Randolph Macon Academy and softball got mostly rained out against Fauquier. The track teams continued to practice as their opening scrimmage was scheduled for Monday, March 11.

3 The “boys of summer” traveled to RMA on Saturday, March 9 for a scrimmage with the Hornet baseball team. Falling behind 4-0 early, it looked like the Panther side had forgotten how to play the game. i However, things picked up when the Rapp squad started to get runners on base. They had 12 stolen bases on the day with junior Ryan Brown getting four. Senior Jeff Ritenour showed some leadership during the contest collecting four RBI’s, stealing two bases and scoring two runs in the Panther 8 to 7 victory.
Juniors’ Brown and Noah Starks shared the pitching chores, along with senior Jamie Keys. Starks picked up the win for the Panthers who
