Following a second place team finish in the Bull Run District Tournament held on Feb. 20 at Strasburg High School, the Rappahannock County High School Forensics team advanced eight students to take part in the Virginia High School League Region B Forensics Tournament.
This tournament was held on Saturday, March 9 at William Campbell High School in Naruna, Va. The team is once again this year coached by RCHS English teacher, Jon Heddleston.
Students who advanced to the Region B Tournament were: Matt Ralston, who finished first in Spelling. Matt is the State Champion from last year in the Spelling category. Laura Maloney, who finished first in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking; Lea Pyne, who finished third in Original Oratory; Krystal Heflin, who finished third in Storytelling; Josh McArthur, who finished third in Humorous Dramatic Interpretation; Karie VonFange and Elaine Smith, who finished third in Duo Interpretation; and Dawm Andreoni, who finished third in Serious Dramatic Interpretation.
