Saint Patricks Day is just around the corner. March 17. Let me be the first to say “Top O' the momin to ya”.
It is an Irish holiday honoring Saint Patrick. His mission in Ireland lasted 30 years, and he died March 17. AD 481. That day has been commemorated 6s Saint Patrick's Day ever since.
In Ireland it is the most beloved day of the year with all businesses and schools closed. They attend morning mass, followed bv parades all over the country that last until the “wee hours of the mom".
Saint Patrick was actually not Irish. He was born around 373 AD in either Scotland or Roman Britain. His real name was believed to be Maewyn Succat. He took the name Patrick or Patricus after he became priest.
He was kidnapped at a early age and sold into slavery in Ireland. There he worked as a shepherd. He began to have religious visions, and found strength in his faith. He escaped and went to France and became a priest and iater a bishop.
