Human waste, birth control and sanitary products, and disposable diapers all disappear down the toilet. People use the toilet to get rid of bandages, dead gold fish, pet waste, food, dental floss, and tom-up charge card receipts (to prevent identity theft).
Small children flush things away just to see them disappear. One plumber recalled finding a Tickle Me Elmo doll some creative child had rammed up around the bend. Illicit drugs and other incriminating evidence are flushed down the drain. People drop toothbrushes, false teeth, rings, and money into the commode.
