The Wakefield Country Day School community was saddened this week to learn of the death of one of its dearest family members. Mr. Bill Beeton, longtime friend of Wakefield and former Chairman of the Board, passed away unexpectedly last weekend while on business out of the country.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the family, all of whom are held deep within our thoughts.
All of the Beeton daughters are alumni of Wakefield, and it has been a terrible shock to lose someone who has continued to be such a part of the Wakefield legacy.
Our best always to the family.
• Wakefield Country Day School had the honor of hosting a special art event last week, and we would like to thank Mr. Ned Bittinger, internationally acclaimed portrait artist, for showing our students his work. Mr. Bittinger gave the students an opportunity to watch him in action, after a slide show that highlighted both former and current WCDS students in his work.
He picked Miss Sheena Rye, a senior, out of the audience, and over the next three hours, drew her portrait in pencil.
Students in all grades walked through at various points, watching different stages of the process.
