Fall always seems like the busiest season in Rappahannock County and David William’s exhibition in Long View Gallery is the perfect antidote to those suffering from the harried schedule blues.
William’s paintings are lovely, direct and easily absorbed.
They do not demand intense scrutiny and deep intellectual involvement. You can take a deep breath and enjoy the show on your own terms.
The exhibition features five still lifes, twenty landscapes and two cityscapes. The landscapes are mainly from the surrounding towns and countryside but there are four paintings from the coast of New England.
Williams paints in the alia prima style, which means each painting is completed in one sitting.
As a result the paintings are fresh, to the point, and never overworked.
