Health screening programs set

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center.

On Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. a program on "Importance of Proper Food Preparation; on Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. a program on “Yes and No’s with Medications: and on Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. a program on Alzheimer’s. If interested in attending any of these programs, contact Anita Richards at 825-3100, extension #3321. The programs are supported in part by Piedmont United Way.

Bereavement workshop set

Hospice of the Rapidan offers free bereavement support groups to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, with or without prior Hospice affiliation. A workshop entitled “Coping With Grief: Facing the Holidays When You've Lost Someone You Love” is now forming, designed to help cope with the stressful and emotional situations that can arise during the holidays.

The workshop is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hospice of the Rapidan Community Room Pre-registration is appreciated. Call Craig Wilt, Bereavement Coordinator at Hospice of the Rapidan for more information or to register for the workshop. Society sets performances

The Front Royal Oratorio Society, directed by George T. Amos, Judy Connelly accompanist, is pleased to announce that its winter concerts will be productions of GF. Handel's Messiah, Part I and selections from Parts II and III. The chorus of over 60 singers, representing six surrounding counties, will be joined by soloists and orchestral and harpsichord accompaniment.

The performances will be Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Braddock Street United Methodist Church, Winchester and Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Riverton United Methodist Church in Front Royal. There is no admission charge. A free-will offering will be accepted during intermission. For more information call 622-6974.
