of blocks; we asked that the system address the Town’s current water usage of 30,000 gallons a day, assuming that the wastewater would amount to about the same amount (actually, it will probably be a little less, but we won’t know how much until the system is installed); we asked that the system be designed to address the entire Town and that the recirculating sand filter and drain field be built to address the entire Town; we asked that the collection system be initially built in phases, Phase 1 to address all of Main Street, Gay Street and Middle Street to the back of the motel, Phase 2 to address Mount Salem Avenue, Phase 3 to address the west side of Town and Phase 4 to address the northeast part of Town (This is a conservative approach designed to address the worst septic areas in Town first.
Phases 1 and 2 will probably be addressed first. These phases include 83 percent of the water used in Town (25,000 gallons a day). Using this approach we will be able to validate the capacity of our system before committing to the last 5,000 gallons per day; and we asked that septic tanks for the new system be priced in the proposal so that they would be supplied to the new users and installed for them by the Town, although the users would be required to connect them to their plumbing and electricity and pay for the electricity to operate the pressure pumps included in the septic tanks. (The town would service these tanks and pump them on a periodic basis. This would require them to be located where they can be pumped and easements to permit the servicing and pumping).
As has been stated throughout the discussions of the Avon Hall wastewater treatment plan, this is a plan designed, most importantly, to address the current problems in Town, the Town’s current water usage and a little growth (as working figures, a house uses between 100 and 200 gallons a day).
