or the House of Insects and Their Cousins. Although I have the usual population of ladybugs, the dominant housemates seem to be mud wasps, with spiders taking a close second. Makes me miss the snakelings.
Living in the country requires accommodating wild housemates from time to time. Most of them appear in “blooms” according to the season and are often gone before they become a real pest. Others try our patience a bit more. (You know who you are, you little round orange guys with spots.) It’s part of life here, and I figure it just means I'm living in the middle of a fascinating science project. If I could just get the critters to pay half the rent...
